Evans has been proudly developing a tradition of fine workmanship for over 60 years within the Royal Arcade, Melbourne CBD. The company was founded by Evan Skliros – better know within the Arcade as “Mr.Evans” – a highly renowned leather craftsman who began the workshop in 1956 after migrating to Australia. Since then the company has expanded to offer not only traditional shoe repairs but a range of leather services including waterproofing, cleaning, recolouring and alterations for boots, heels, clothes, bags and all types of leather accessories. As our team of experienced leather craftsmen attend to each job by hand, you can always expect the highest quality workmanship and attention to detail when you place an order with us.
Customer service is a high priority at Evans and our staff ensure each job is thoroughly explained and prices are confirmed before any work goes ahead. Our typical turnover time is 3 – 4 days and for specialised jobs up to a week. Urgent orders are possible in special circumstances. Customer’s are notified of their order status through our integrative email and SMS system. During order processing any queries can be sent directly through to our customer support staff.
Our heritage workshop is one of the oldest in Melbourne with three levels that span the second and third floors of the Royal Arcade. The workshop is divided into three separate departments for leather repairs, alterations, cleaning and dyeing. The workshop also includes a large storeroom that holds exclusive leather care products and materials.
Each order is attended to by hand with only the finest quality products and materials used. Our storeroom stocks a wide variety of imported leather care products and local leathers and other materials to cater for the diverse needs of our customers. Our inventory also includes gold, silver and bronze hardware, zips and buttons. In the event of our workshop not stocking a suitable material, our staff will source the material from our trusted suppliers.
