Bag and Accessory Colour Restoration

Colour Restoration for Bags and Accessories

Colour restoration helps blend fading, scuffs and discolouration on suitable bags and accessories. We clean and condition leather, applying colour-matched dye to affected areas for a natural finish, with results depending on the material and condition.

Our Bag Colour Restoration Service

Our services include restorative cleaning, leather conditioning, localised colour touch-ups and complete colour changes on suitable bags. We can target worn smooth-leather corners and handles without recolouring the whole bag, then waterproof the restored leather. Send photos of your bag or accessory to our team today for a quote.

Bag and Accessory Colour Restoration | FAQs

On smooth leather, we apply colour-matched dye to discoloured, stained or scratched areas, aiming for a blended, natural finish rather than promising an exact original match. Cleaning removes dirt; colour restoration addresses uneven colour. A complete colour change is a separate option for suitable bags, subject to the material and finish.

Some marks may remain, depending on the material and its condition. Vegetable-tanned leather naturally develops a patina, so we use minimal dye to soften harsh water or oil marks rather than cover its character. Significantly aged, dark or dry leather may need replacement. We cannot guarantee complete stain removal from fabric.

We restore suede and nubuck by enhancing their existing colour with brightening agents; the texture may feel slightly less soft afterwards. Fabric colour touch-ups are usually possible, while canvas touch-ups are sometimes possible. We waterproof suede, nubuck and fabric after restoration. Cracked or split canvas needs leather patching rather than colour treatment alone.

Patent treatment is limited to surface marks and stains, with occasional minimal touch-ups. We cannot recolour patent leather or resolve colour transfer or underlying discolouration. Metallic touch-ups may look flatter than the original finish, and damaged foiling cannot be restored. Black recolouring may be an alternative for suitable metallic bags, subject to assessment.

The quote depends on the material, condition and work required. Send photos of the whole bag and the areas you want treated so we can advise on a suitable service. You can visit our Melbourne workshop or post your bag from elsewhere in Australia.

We can also assess worn handles, straps, edges, stitching, zips and linings. Hardware polishing cleans and brightens metal but does not remove scratches or restore lost colour. Replating is available only for certain hardware after physical inspection; replacement may be an alternative. Mention any structural damage when sending your photos.
