Leather Jacket Stitching Repairs

Restitching for Leather Clothing

Stitching and seam repairs address loose threads and worn seams in leather clothing. We restitch leather jackets with colour-matched thread, aiming to replicate the original stitching as closely as possible. We assess other leather garments individually.

Our Stitching & Seam Repair Service

We repair worn jacket seams with colour-matched restitching, using machine stitching for straight seams and hand stitching where appropriate for thicker leather. Where leather has torn beside a seam, we assess reinforcement or panel replacement. Send photos of your garment to our team today for a quote.

Leather Clothing Stitching & Seam Repairs | FAQs

We match thread colour and thickness to replicate the original stitching as closely as possible. The garment’s construction and condition affect the achievable finish, so an exact or invisible match is not guaranteed. If the leather itself needs tear repair, a faint join line may remain.

We assess open underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams for restitching. The important distinction is whether the thread has broken or the leather has torn beside it. Torn leather may need reinforcement rather than stitching alone; more extensive damage may require a replacement panel.

Pricing depends on access to the damaged area and the garment’s construction, including whether we need to open the lining to reach the seam. Send photos of your garment and the damaged area for a quote. We also offer consultations at our Melbourne workshop.

We repair smooth leather and suede jackets, including vintage and motorcycle styles, subject to the condition of the material and seam. We also assess other leather garments, such as trousers, skirts and dresses, individually. We use machine stitching for straight seams and often hand stitch thicker leather.

Not necessarily. We can replace individual lining sections or pocket linings rather than the entire lining. If only a seam has opened, we assess whether restitching is suitable. Deteriorated lining material may need replacement rather than stitching alone; the extent and location of the damage guide our recommendation.

You can visit our Melbourne workshop for a consultation or use our Australia-wide postal service for leather jacket repairs. Send photos of your jacket and the damaged stitching to our team to get started. For other leather garments, ask our team about suitability before posting.
