Shoe and Boot Heel Re-covering

Repairing Worn Heel Coverings

Heel re-covering replaces the damaged outer wrap around a shoe or boot heel, rather than just the rubber tip underneath. At our Melbourne workshop, we renew scuffed or torn coverings with colour-matched leather, with texture and finish matching subject to availability.

Heel Re-covering and Replacement

We re-cover leather heels, replace cracked or snapped heel pieces and renew stacked-look heel block veneers. Leather re-covering and whole heel replacement are completed as a pair, including new heel tips. Send photos of your shoes or boots to our team today for a quote.

Shoe and Boot Heel Re-covering | FAQs

We select colour-matched leather to resemble the original covering as closely as possible. Patent, suede, patterned and metallic finishes depend on material availability. If we cannot source a match, we use colour-matched smooth leather instead, so the texture or finish will differ.

Send photos of the whole pair, damaged coverings and heel tips so we can quote for the work needed. We always re-cover both heels, even if only one is damaged, and new heel tips are included. Replacing whole heel pieces is also quoted as a pair, including tips.

Light surface scuffs may respond to polishing or colour restoration. Torn, peeling or deeply scuffed coverings, including damage exposing the plastic underneath, may need replacement. We assess the covering and underlying heel separately: re-covering renews the outer material, while heel tip replacement addresses the worn contact surface underneath.

If a heel piece is cracked or snapped beyond repair, we can replace both heel pieces with new tips and colour-matched smooth leather coverings. An exact original shape may not be available; we then select the closest suitable style. Requested changes, such as stiletto to block heels, need assessment.

We assess covered boot heels, block heels and stilettos for re-covering. For stacked-look heel blocks, we apply new veneer as a pair: this covering mimics stacked leather and can be colour-matched to resemble the original finish. Damage to the heel block itself requires separate assessment.

You can visit our Melbourne workshop or post your shoes or boots from anywhere in Australia through our online repair service. To get started, send photos showing the whole pair, close-ups of the damaged coverings and the heel tips. These help us assess the appropriate repair.
