Lining Repairs

Shoe Lining Repair and Replacement

Shoe lining repairs address worn, torn or deteriorated material inside your footwear. We replace heel backlinings and full internal linings in shoes and boots, with heel support repairs where the underlying structure has also deteriorated.

Backlinings, Full Linings and Heel Support

We recraft heel backlinings in colour-matched genuine smooth leather or suede, replace full linings in colour-matched smooth leather, and rebuild deteriorated heel stiffeners. We assess the worn area and footwear construction to recommend suitable work. Send photos of your shoes or boots for a quote.

Shoe and Boot Lining Repairs | FAQs

We only recraft backlinings in colour-matched genuine smooth leather or suede, including when the worn lining is fabric. Full lining replacements use colour-matched smooth leather. This means the replacement may differ from the original texture or material; we assess your footwear before recommending the appropriate option.

A full replacement is often unnecessary when wear is confined to the heel area; a new backlining may be sufficient. More widespread deterioration or tears may require full relining. This involves taking the shoe or boot apart, removing the deteriorated lining and reassembling the footwear with a new lining, subject to assessment.

Send photos of your footwear and the damaged lining so we can assess the work and provide a quote. Localised backlining replacement, rebuilding heel support and full relining involve different work. Our listed lining services are for pairs; tell us if only one shoe needs attention so we can advise.

Yes. If both the backlining and internal heel structure have deteriorated, we can rebuild the heel stiffeners to restore shape and support, then replace the backlining with colour-matched genuine smooth leather or suede. We assess whether the damage affects the lining alone or the structure beneath it.

We can restitch worn or damaged interior stitching, subject to the condition of the surrounding material. An opened seam does not automatically require full relining. If the lining itself is torn or deteriorating, we assess whether replacing the affected area or the full lining is more suitable.

You can bring your shoes or boots to our Melbourne workshop for a consultation, or post them to us from anywhere in Australia. Send photos to our team to get started, showing the footwear overall and the damaged internal lining as clearly as possible.
