Bag Edge Waxing & Finishing

Leather Bag Edge Restoration

Edge waxing restores worn leather edges on bag handles and straps. We apply colour-matched wax to help hold the leather together and prevent fraying, assessing cracked or peeling edging to determine the repair needed.

Handle, Strap & Edge Re-waxing

We restore leather handle, strap and bag edges with colour-matched wax, lightly sanding and building up layers to renew the finish. Where leather is damaged, we assess whether reinforcement or repair is also needed. Send photos of your bag to our team today for a quote.

Bag Edge Waxing & Finishing | FAQs

Send photos of your bag and the affected edges so we can provide a quote for the work required. If multiple edges need re-waxing, we calculate the cost for the combined work rather than charging separately for each edge. We also assess whether the underlying leather needs repair.

We use colour-matched wax to restore leather edges, lightly sanding for smoothness before building up the finish in layers. The existing leather and edging need assessment, so we cannot promise an identical colour, texture or shape. Send clear photos so we can discuss the finish achievable.

We can re-wax frayed leather handle and strap edges rather than automatically replacing the handles. Cracked, peeling or sticky edging needs assessment to establish whether the finish alone is affected. Where the leather itself is damaged, reinforcement, restitching or handle repair or replacement may be needed.

Our edge re-waxing service restores leather edges using colour-matched wax. Suitability depends on the condition of the leather and its existing finish. Send photos of the item and damaged area so we can assess it; we do not assume every material or edge coating can be treated the same way.

You can visit our heritage workshop in Royal Arcade, Melbourne, or post your handbag from anywhere in Australia through our online repair service. To start a quote, send an overall photo of your bag and clear close-ups of the affected handles, straps or edges.
