Bag Resizing & Shape Restoration

Resizing and reshaping your bag

Bag reshaping restores support to a sagging base or collapsed sides. We reinforce bags internally to restore their original structure, and assess suitable fabric bags for a slight size reduction to remove damaged bottom corners.

Bag reinforcement and size reduction

Our services include base reinforcement, all-side shape restoration and conditional shortening of fabric bags. We open the lining to install internal support; shortening involves reducing the bottom panel and restitching new corners, depending on construction. Bag Resizing & Shape Restoration | FAQs

We can install or replace reinforcement between the exterior leather and interior lining, either at the base or around all sides. This work aims to restore the bag’s original shape and structure. Suitability and the achievable result depend on its construction and condition, which we assess before recommending the work.

For fabric bags with damaged bottom corners, we may be able to reduce the bottom panel and reconstruct the corners by restitching the base panels. This slightly reduces the bag’s overall dimensions and depends on the base construction. Reshaping otherwise restores existing structure; it is not a promise of enlargement or redesign.

Yes. Base reinforcement and all-side shape restoration require us to open the lining and work internally. The reinforcement sits between the exterior leather and lining. If you are concerned about pockets, closures or original details, let our team know so we can assess these alongside the proposed work.

Send photos of your bag to our team for a quote. Show the whole bag, its base, sides and any damaged areas, and explain whether you want structural support or a size reduction. We will assess the relevant work rather than assume every bag needs the same repair.

We can shorten or lengthen handbag straps to adjust the carrying fit. This is separate from changing the bag’s body or restoring its structure. Strap alterations usually require a fitting to determine the ideal length, so tell our team how you would like the bag to sit.

We offer postal handbag repairs from anywhere in Australia, as well as consultations at our Melbourne workshop. Send photos first so our team can assess your reshaping or resizing enquiry and discuss the next steps before you post your bag.
