Shoe Dyeing and Colour Changes

Change the Colour of Your Shoes

Shoe and boot dyeing changes footwear to a new colour. At our Melbourne workshop, we assess smooth leather and suede shoes for colour changes, with options depending on the material. Not every leather or finish is suitable for this service.

Our Shoe Dyeing Service

For suitable smooth leather, we clean, decolourise and strip the original finish before staining and hand-applying pigment coats. Choose from our colour collection or supply a physical sample for custom matching. Suede options are brown, navy and black. Send photos of your shoes for a quote.

Shoe & Boot Dyeing and Colour Changes | FAQs

For suitable smooth leather, we can custom-match a colour using a physical sample, such as a fabric swatch or garment. A photograph alone is not sufficient for custom matching. You can also choose from our in-house colour collection. We assess the leather before confirming whether a colour change is suitable.

We offer colour changes for certain smooth leathers, subject to assessment, and suede in brown, navy or black. We have also dyed satin wedding heels from white to black. Send photos and your preferred colour so we can assess your pair rather than assume every material or finish can be dyed.

Redyeing suede makes it less soft, and there is a risk that the colour will leach or transfer. Our suede colour changes are limited to brown, navy and black. These trade-offs are important to consider before deciding whether to change the colour of suede shoes or boots.

Send photos of your shoes or boots and tell us the colour you would like for a quote. We need to assess suitability before confirming a smooth leather colour change. If you want a custom colour match, we also require a physical sample.

Yes. Colour restoration addresses discolouration, scratches or stains with a matched finish. A colour change gives the shoes a new shade. For suitable smooth leather, that involves cleaning, decolourising and stripping the original finish, then staining and applying multiple coats of pigment by hand.

You can visit our Melbourne workshop for a consultation or post your shoes from anywhere in Australia through our online repair service. Send photos to our team to get started, along with your preferred colour. Custom matching for smooth leather requires a physical colour sample.
