Shoe & Boot Cleaning and Restoration | FAQs

We treat marks and stains, but complete removal is not always possible. Fabrics need gentle cleaning; delicate satin and mesh require soaking to attempt to lift dirt, grass stains and spillages. We cannot guarantee complete stain removal from these materials. If stains remain on satin shoes, dyeing them black or recovering them in another fabric may be an option.

We custom-mix leather dyes to blend discolouration, stains and scratches with the existing colour and finish. Metallic touch-ups conceal damage rather than recreate the original surface, and may look flatter or less vibrant. A change to black may be possible when touch-ups are unsuitable. We cannot restore foiled metallic leather where the foil is damaged or missing.

Suede and nubuck may feel slightly less soft after restoration. We work with their natural colour and use products with brightening agents to enhance it and create a more even finish. We thoroughly waterproof suede and nubuck following restoration, but this does not mean every stain or colour variation will disappear.

We can clean and deeply nourish exotic and reptile leathers with specialty products, and assess colour touch-ups or recolouring if requested. Very old, dried-out or deteriorated leather, particularly leather that feels papery, may absorb only minimal nourishment. Conditioning and colour work cannot be relied on to reverse significant material deterioration.

Send photos of your shoes or boots to our team for a quote. Show the whole item and close-ups of stains, scratches or faded areas, and tell us what you would like improved. We assess the material, condition and proposed treatment rather than quote every restoration as the same job.

You can bring your shoes or boots to our Melbourne workshop for a consultation, or use our online repair service and post them from anywhere in Australia. Send photos to our team first to discuss the restoration and organise your order.
